Dust off your Dirndl and don your Lederhosen, because Oktoberfest is here! An Oktoberfest party is one of my favourite party themes, because you can really get into showcasing the German culture with some super easy decoration and recipe ideas. Here are just a few that will be sure to have you bumping steins and eating your Bavarian heart out.

1. Create a string of pretzel necklaces
This is quite possibly the most simple of all the Oktoberfest party ideas. Purchase an excessively large bag of pretzel snacks, then loop them through some string for your guests to proudly wear as pretzel necklaces.
2. Bake some Gingerbread Hearts
Known as ‘Lebkuchen’ in Germany, these gingerbread hearts are bound to be seen at every Oktoberfest function. You can find a great recipe over at the German Food Guide!
3. Print mini food flags
What could possibly make your party more German than sticking some miniature flags in your appetizers? The above flags come as part of my Ultimate Oktoberfest party decoration set.

4. Host a beer tasting
It wouldn’t be Oktoberfest without a bucketload of beer, so why not host a tasting for the beer connoisseurs. It is, of course, essential to include some fun shaped beer mugs and steins. Here’s a guide to an epic beer tasting party over at Inspired by Charm.

5. Make beer cheese dips
On the subject of beer, how about including the delicious beverage in your food as well! You can find recipes for the above beer cheese dip trio over at Cake N Knife.

6. Serve some traditional fare
Prove your commitment to a Bavarian-themed party with some Bratwurst (traditional German sausage), Sauerkraut (pickled cabbage), Schnitzel, and Potato Salad.

7. Set up a Biergarten
It wouldn’t be Oktoberfest without a beer garden. Don’t have an outdoor area to use? Why not set one up inside! All it takes is some streamers, balloons, and tablecloths in the iconic blue and white.
8. Display some signage
Don’t forget to include some signage to add to the Oktoberfest atmosphere! The above sign (along with ones that say ‘Biergarten’ and ‘Oktoberfest’) comes as part of my Ultimate Oktoberfest party decoration set.

9. Play Dress-Ups
It wouldn’t be an Oktoberfest party without the proper attire! Dirndls and Lederhosen are a must. Check out this guide to Oktoberfest ensembles by The Lovely Side.

10. Print photo booth props
Everyone loves a photo booth! Make your costumes ever more fun with some photo booth props. The above are available for instant download through Silhouette Shop on Etsy. All you have to do is print and cut them out! Viola, your photo booth is complete!
